PRIVACY FENCES

Privacy fence Installation and repair is another service provided by Roofing Services Now .Com. Wooden fences can last long and are an economical way compared to stone or iron fences. The  most common types of wood used are treated pine and Cedar.  Wooden fences are usually torn down by hurricanes or damaged by hail storms and when you have insurance coverage on them they can be included in your insurance claim as well. Most insurance companies don’t pay for the depreciation for fences. Depreciation is a big chunk of money that you will not get back if your insurance covers the fence but they give you a portion of it which can be enough to get a new one built. It is always a good idea to consult with your insurance agent to find out how much coverage your fence has in case of a storm.

Treated pine fences are usually the most economical way to go compared to cedar and it can last many years if it is protected with sealants at least every other year. Over time fences built with treated wood may develop some warping or curving due to the chemicals and the young pines they are fabricated from.

Cedar pickets usually are more costly but last longer and look more beautiful. Usually Cedar is a very straight looking wood, resistant and with fine cuts. This is due to pickets being fabricated from mature trees.

Nails or Screws: When you build a fence it can be done using nails or screws. Sometimes using one or the other can make a difference about the price you pay. Screws are said to be better because it will add extra strength to the structure which can make it more difficult for high winds to tear the fence apart. But nails nowadays are also manufactured with ring-shank instead of smooth shank, which can definitely add that extra strength you need while making the job faster.  A fence installation with nails goes usually a lot faster than using screws.

Fence Maintenance: Fence maintenance can be key to a longer lasting wooden fence. No wooden fence can last forever but the more you maintain it and care for it the more it will last. It is always recommended to have your fence inspected every year and also seal it with a good brand sealant. Sealants can protect the wood from the constant punishment of the sun, heat and rain which enters the porous surface of the wood and rotten it easily. Why have an ugly looking fence or have it replaced when you can maintain it to last longer.

Our privacy fences are usually about 6 feet tall but may vary depending on local regulations in your city or county. We build fences based on your specific needs such as pet safe, pool fencing and more. For a pet safer fence we recommend adding a 1 x 6 board at the bottom of the perimeter of the entire fence. That will prevent bottom of pickets rotting from the effect of moisture on the ground over time plus it will make it harder for dogs to chew and brake it.

This is our most typical wooden fence process.

  • Remove and discard old pickets, posts and concrete
  • Dig holes for post 2 to 3 feet down
  • Place 4 x 4 post or your preferred size approximately 7 feet apart
  • Level them appropriately from all angles
  • Pour Cement in the holes
  • Install 3 horizontal 2 x 4  boards throughout the fence structure. At the bottom, center and top part of posts
  • Install 1 x 6 treated pine or preferred type of wood at the bottom of all posts
  • Install new pickets
  • Gate fabrication according to owner’s preference of size and location.
  • Hardware Installation (locks, hinges etc)
  • Cleaning and Haul off of debris.
